I'm sure at some point we have all felt there are not enough hours in the day to finish everything that needs to be done. OR when you finally do have that extra time, you just want to relax. Here are some tips that will help you feel motivated to get things done- while also feeling less overwhelmed in the process!
✨Tip 1✨ Start the day early
If you have young kids, waking up early can be a great time to have a moment before the chaos.
My suggestion: when your alarm goes off make sure to get up right away! When you snooze the alarm this will make you even more tired. (I’ve learned from experience) Also, wake up at the same time every day! After a week of this routine, your body will adjust and you will start to naturally wake up at that time!
✨Tip 2✨Complete Micro-tasks
Creating small habits is a great way to get the ball rolling for a productive day. Some tasks can include making your bed and cleaning your space. This will help keep you organized throughout the day and feel less overwhelmed. Another tip when starting your work day is to start with the “hardest” or least exciting task. That way you won't procrastinate, and can focus on other tasks after!
✨Tip 3✨ Eat a big breakfast
I'm sure you have heard- “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. This meal will give you the energy to take on all the activities of the day ahead. Having a balanced meal with high protein will also control mid-day cravings and avoid energy drops.
✨Tip 4✨ Get some exercise done
Between work and the other 100 things going on, it can be hard to make time to exercise. However, it is important to remember not to give 100% of your energy to others and also to make time for yourself. Grab a coffee and go on a 20-minute walk! You will feel calm and collected and ready to take on the day!
✨Tip 5✨ Set an intention
Start your day by setting a very specific intention. What do I mean by this? Well... we have all had days where we plan to do one thing, but the day flies by and you never finish the one thing you really wanted to do. This is why setting a clear priority is great to help avoid getting distracted, and make you feel accomplished at the end of the day!
An example of this could be if you have been feeling really overwhelmed, your intention could be “achieve peace of mind”. You can then write down tasks that will help achieve this goal- the laundry, that random sock in the hallway, decluttering your cabinet… whatever is stuck in the back of your mind.
